WHAT IS SCAR CAMOUFLAGE?

The purpose of scar camouflge a.k.a paramedical tattooing; is to disguise the appearance of scar tissue, skin discolouration or blend in markings on the skin seamlessly. It is also known as corrective pigment camouflage (CPC), skin repigmentation, camouflage tattooing, skin-colour tattooing, or skin camouflage.

GOOD CANDIDATES are able to correct and camouflage scars, stretch marks as well as:

  • Surgery Scars
  • Camouflage previous Tattoos/Permanent Makeup
  • Breast surgery
  • Tummy tucks
  • Facelifts
  • Pregnancy
  • Stretch marks
  • vitiligo

THE PROCESS: PERSONALIZED TREATMENTS FOR EVERY SCAR

Every scar is unique, and so is every treatment. The process is rooted in understanding that no two scars—or clients—are the same. Here are the primary techniques:

This flexibility in approach means that every treatment is entirely up to the client’s needs, whether they want to improve texture, colour, or both.

WHO IS NOT NOT AN IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Contagious skin conditions or infections in the area
  • Bruises, raised moles or warts in the treatment area
  • Skin cancer or radiation therapy in the last year
  • Broken skin (wounds, rashes, blisters, active acne)
  • History of keloid or hyper-tropic scarring
  • Eczema, psoriasis or severe solar keratosis
  • Hemophiliac
  • Diabetic on the needle (will require doctor's clearance)
  • Have used Accutane in the past, year
  • History of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation - a patch test may be recommended beforehand.

WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE?

Pain varies on the individual, the area we are treating, and other contributing factors such as menstrual cycle, sleep deprivation, stress levels, caffeine intake, etc. We will use a topical numbing cream before and/or during your treatment to minimize any discomfort.

HOW LONG DO TREATMENTS TAKE?

Depending on the area and condition being treated, the procedure could vary from 20 minutes to 1.5 hours.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

The number of sessions required will depend on the size and depth of the scar/stretch marks and the client’s expectations. Typically, it will take between one to four sessions to achieve desired results. Collagen levels peak at about 14 days post treatment and continue for weeks following.  Sessions are booked 6-8 weeks apart, to allow the deeper layers of skin time to heal in between.

Consultation for Traditional Skin coloured ink camouflage

During your consultation, we will discuss whether you are a good candidate for this procedure, skin colour pigment matching, pre & after care instructions and discuss the next steps. Clients may request to expedite the treatment plan by having a patch test or spot colouring done at the time of their consultation, as scar camouflage needs a “test run” to determine the appropriate combination and mix of pigments to precisely match your skin tone perfectly

After first initial consultation

Based on this consultation, I will recommend a treatment plan tailored just for you. Here’s what you can generally expect:

  • Initial Consultation: We’ll discuss your options, expectations, and any questions you have. We may do a patch test to determine how your skin will respond.
  • Treatment Sessions: Depending on the scar, treatments may require more than one session for optimal results. The total length of sessions range from 1 hour 45 mins - 3 hours
  • Aftercare and Healing: After each treatment, you’ll be given specific aftercare instructions to promote healing and maintain the best results.

Each treatment is a step toward making the scar less noticeable and helping you feel more at ease with your appearance.
