WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE?

Pain varies on the individual, the area we are treating, and other contributing factors such as menstrual cycle, sleep deprivation, stress levels, caffeine intake, etc. We will use a topical numbing cream before and/or during your treatment to minimize any discomfort.

HOW LONG DO TREATMENTS TAKE?

Depending on the area and condition being treated, the procedure could vary from 20 minutes to 1.5 hours.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

The number of sessions required will depend on the size and depth of the scar/stretch marks and the client’s expectations. Typically, it will take between one to four sessions to achieve desired results. Collagen levels peak at about 14 days post treatment and continue for weeks following.  Sessions are booked 6-8 weeks apart, to allow the deeper layers of skin time to heal in between.

WHAT WILL I LOOK LIKE AFTER THE TREATMENT?

Inkless Stretchmark Revision has little to no downtime; most people return to work following the procedure. Skin redness and swelling are expected immediately following the treatment. Swelling will subside within 24 hours; redness can persist for several days. Your skin may feel dry, tight, itchy or sensitive in the 7-21 days following, depending on the location of the area treated and how aggressive the treatment was performed. Products to hydrate and nourish the skin will be offered following your treatment.

WHO IS NOT A CANDIDATE FOR ISR?

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Contagious skin conditions or infections in the area
  • Bruises, raised moles or warts in the treatment area
  • Skin cancer or radiation therapy in the last year
  • Broken skin (wounds, rashes, blisters, active acne)
  • History of keloid or hyper-tropic scarring
  • Eczema, psoriasis or severe solar keratosis
  • Hemophiliac
  • Diabetic on the needle (will require doctor's clearance)
  • Have used Accutane in the past, year
  • History of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation - a patch test may be recommended beforehand.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY TREATMENT?

  • Avoid excessive sun exposure or tanning 1 week before your appointment.
  • Shower before; skin should be clean without lotion, oil, makeup, deodorant or sunscreen.
  • Avoid using skin thinners (vitamin A, glycolic acids, exfoliation, benzyl peroxide) to the treatment area 1 week prior to your appointment.
  • Avoid alcohol or blood thinners (Aspirin, Ibuprofen, other NSAID medication, fish oil, Niacin, Vitamin E) 48 hours before your procedure, to avoid excess bleeding. Do not stop required medications without first consulting with your doctor.

CAN ALL SCARS BE TREATED?

Scars must be fully healed and either flesh coloured or lighter than the surrounding skin in order to receive the treatment. Any stretchmark/scars that are dark red or purple, raised/keloid or less than 9 months old cannot be treated. Inkless Stretchmark Revision is suitable for all skin types and can be used to treat stretch marks on various parts of the body, including the stomach, thighs, arms, and hips. Additionally, Inkless Scar Revision can treat scars from acne, surgery, injury, breast lift, facelift and tummy tuck.

WHAT RESULTS CAN I EXPECT & HOW LONG WILL THEY LAST?

Inkless Stretchmark Revision is designed to improve the appearance of your scars or stretch marks. While it cannot completely eliminate their appearance, most people can expect to see a 30-90% reduction in the severity of their scarring. ISR provides permanent results, however these can be affected if the skin undergoes further stretching via weight gain or injury to the area. The longevity of results is also dependent on factors such as age, lifestyle, diet and UV exposure.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING THE TREATMENT

Before we begin, we’ll conduct a comprehensive consultation to discuss your goals and assess your scar. Based on this consultation, we’ll recommend a treatment plan tailored just for you. Here’s what you can generally expect:

  • Initial Consultation: We’ll discuss your options, expectations, and any questions you have. We may do a patch test to determine how your skin will respond.
  • Treatment Sessions: Depending on the scar, treatments may require more than one session for optimal results.
  • Aftercare and Healing: After each treatment, you’ll be given specific aftercare instructions to promote healing and maintain the best results.

Each treatment is a step toward making the scar less noticeable and helping you feel more at ease with your appearance.

During your consultation, we will discuss whether you are a good candidate for this procedure, skin colour pigment matching, pre & after care instructions and discuss the next steps. Clients may request to expedite the treatment plan by having a patch test or spot colouring done at the time of their consultation, as scar camouflage needs a “test run” to determine the appropriate combination and mix of pigments to precisely match your skin tone perfectly
